Equity long-short investment firm located in Los Angeles, CA seeks a financial reporting, compliance, and operational associate to aid the firm in its accounting and operational processes.  Candidates must have a college degree from a four-year institution and at least two years of experience in finance/accounting and/or operational systems related roles (experience at an accounting firm or investment firm is a plus).  In addition, candidates should be a natural self-starter with a strong desire to figure out complex situations.  Candidates should be resourceful, detail and process oriented, and must have:
1.    Strong knowledge of accounting and finance related processes and systems, including experience with hedge fund partnership reporting.
2.    Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
3.    Proven ability to compile, search, and maintain large data files easily.
4.    Good understanding of basic business technology and strong internet research skills.
5.    Experience developing business processes.
The ideal candidate would be a professional that has strong organizational skills and has a strong desire to add value in an investment firm through the creation and management of systems and processes.  A CPA certificate is also preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience.  This role will work directly with the firm’s principals and can offer a flexible work schedule.
Example of Duties:
1.    Reconcile net asset value statements and daily trades as well as work with outside administrator and auditors on regular financial reporting requirements.
2.    Assist in tax estimates and annual tax reporting to investors.
3.    Manage investor relations process including individual shareholder statements, aiding investors operational due diligence, and other ad hoc investment activity reports/inquiries.
4.    Serve as compliance associate of the firm and assist in compliance reporting and reviews.
5.    Oversee vendor relationships.

NYC based hedge fund of funds looking for a Middle Office Assistant responsible for checking the accounting files’ accuracy for all hedge fund of fund portfolios for monthly reconciliation with NAV reports prepared by our external fund administrator. Trade operations include monthly subscription and redemption activities, daily monitoring and reconciliation of fund activities. The Middle Office Assistant also liaises daily with the front office to review liquidity and cash flow schedules of our funds. On an annual basis, the Middle Office Assistant will be heavily involved in working with our fund administrators and auditors on audit work for our funds. In addition, the Middle Office Assistant will also assist in ongoing compliance work and corporate accounting for the firm.
Other tasks include: i) gathering daily/weekly/monthly performance estimates, manager tear sheets and risk reports, ii) compiling and updating performance statistics (in Pertrac), fund exposures and other ad hoc projects, iii) monitoring the performance of peer groups and indices, and iv) supporting the due diligence team on both existing and prospective hedge funds.
High organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail, a must, as well as ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines. There will be a heavy emphasis placed on strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate the flow of information back and forth between fund administrators, underlying funds, and our investment professionals. IT maintenance experience (PC setup, troubleshooting) helpful. Must have strong Excel skills. Experience 1-2 years.
